Peace of Mind

January 12th, 2010 + 10:01 AM  ·  leVee

NOT a Boston cover. Appreciate comments on vocal harmony (chorus)... I liked the lower one, but our mix/master maestro left in a high harmony and a unison voc that I think is awful... He'll probably be relieved when we tell him to axe it. I like the lower harmony in the chorus, but let me know what you think...

...and here's a good one one: WHY is the higher harmony bad? My theory is: It's flat, it's out of place, it's out of time and it's wobbly instead of straight and clear.

...I wrote this one and played guitar, and our lead singer andy sings it... and yes, I did the harmony parts, regretably... and that weird unison thing at the end that just puckers my colon every time I hear it

It certainly has been a while. I'm in a band called The Shakedown and we've nearly finished recording our debut. Here is one of the first tracks we finished this summer.

I wrote and sang this one, Let Me Know what you think...

Downhearted Blues

November 10th, 2006 + 5:11 PM  ·  leVee

This is a cover of Son House's classic; but the music is 100% original, much like Clapton's covers or Zeppelin covers.... of course, it sounds more like Zeppelin : ).

Appreciate comments even though it isn't in a battle!

potential abuse- by me? attn: admins

I want to upload a rendition of Son House's blues classic "Downhearted Blues"-- covers are a staple of the blues.... and like Clapton's cover of "The Crossroads," my version has the lyrics of the original, but the music is 100% original

I tried uploading it, but the next day it was gone... of course, this was during the "Bandamp website redux," as it were....

so can I upload it? PLEASE?!! it's not like I want to upload a cover of a Linkin Park song... which would be gay... or a Led Zeppelin song... which would be hard to pull off...

to use Peter Griffin's reasoning:
c'mon! c'mon! c'mooooooooooooooooooon!

The Louvre v.1.1

October 8th, 2006 + 7:10 PM  ·  leVee

JBP spruced up the guitar files I sent him, and then I applied his techniques to the vocals as well... altogether making the song much more accessible and listenable...

read his posts on compression, normalizing, etc.!
